General Hospital fans are curious why James West was recast in the July 16 episode of the show. Here’s the reason why actor Gary James Fuller could not make an appearance as Nathan and Maxie’s son that day.
Why General Hospital recast James West
Gary James Fuller, who plays James West on General Hospital, did not appear on the July 16 episode. The character was recast, with Easton Winn taking over the role temporarily.
Fuller was unable to film the July 16 episode last month because he injured himself while riding a bike. The young actor gave a health update and his road to recovery in a June 5 Instagram post.
“What started as a ride on my mini bike turned into a trip to the trauma center, two surgeries, and almost a week in the hospital,” Fuller penned in the post. “Definitely not how I planned to spend my week.”
The actor assured, “The good news is that I’m doing well and getting stronger every day. The doctors, nurses, and hospital staff took amazing care of me, and I’m really thankful for everyone who helped and everyone who sent messages, prayers, and support.”
Fuller expressed his gratitude towards everyone who sent him supportive messages during his recovery. He stated, “One of the coolest parts of all of this was seeing how many people were rooting for me. My General Hospital family checked in with FaceTime calls, messages, and encouragement.”
The young actor added, “I got so much love from my castmates, casting, wardrobe, my studio teachers, agents, manager, and so many people behind the scenes. It meant a lot to know I had such a big team cheering me on while I recovered.”
In conclusion, Fuller reported that he has returned home and is “already looking forward to getting back to baseball, racing, filming, and all the things I love to do.”
