DC Studios and Warner Bros. have delayed Matt Reeves‘ The Batman Part II once again. The Robert Pattinson-led sequel has been delayed several times after originally being scheduled for release in 2024. The film has now been pushed back again, beyond its previous release date of October 1, 2027.
When is the new release date for The Batman Part II?
The Batman Part II will now be coming out on February 18, 2028 (via Deadline), pushing the film by four months from its last release date. If the new date holds, the sequel will arrive nearly six years after the first film, which premiered in March 2022. While the film has been delayed multiple times, Reeves is currently filming the sequel in England, suggesting production is now underway.
The film was first delayed due to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. Following that, it was delayed again due to ongoing disputes. The report also confirmed that The Batman Part II will keep its IMAX screens following the delay.

Plot details remain under wraps, but the film has been confirmed to take place during winter, giving Gotham a different visual backdrop. With its new date, the film arrives after James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow. Fans who were looking forward to seeing Batman and Superman films in the same year may be disappointed to hear that.
The Batman Part II recently added Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, and Brian Tyree Henry to its cast. Several conflicting rumors have pointed to Stan playing either Harvey Dent or Victor Zsasz. Johansson has also been rumored to be playing either someone related to Dent or a completely different villain. Similarly, Tyree Henry’s role has not been announced, but some rumors suggest that he will actually be playing Harvey Dent/Two-Face, conflicting with previous reporting about Stan’s role.
The Batman Part II arrives in theaters in February 2028.
