Steve Burton has opened up about receiving his latest Daytime Emmy nomination. The actor, who plays Jason in the soap opera General Hospital, reacted to the news on his podcast. Burton is nominated for the 2026 Outstanding Lead Actor Award.
Steve Burton is ‘honored’ for his 2026 Daytime Emmy Nomination for General Hospital
Steve Burton has received his 11th Daytime Emmy nomination, this time for the 2026 Outstanding Lead Actor. The nominations were announced on July 13. The actor, who plays Jason in the popular ABC soap opera General Hospital, reacted to the news in his podcast, That’s Awesome.
Speaking with his co-host, Bradford Anderson, who plays Damian on GH, Burton said, “I know it’s such a cliché to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30-plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category.”
Burton also revealed that he had a chat with Frank Valentini, General Hospital’s executive producer, as soon as the nominations came out. “Frank texted me right away,” the actor shared. “I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Furthermore, Burton thanked Elizabeth Korte, one of the head writers of General Hospital, and producer Michelle Henry for helping him “a lot with the material” that he sent in for the Emmy consideration. The actor also expressed his gratitude to his wife, Michelle Lundstrom, as well as co-stars Laura Wright and Maurice Benard.
Burton also paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Leslie Charleson, who played Monica Quartermaine, his on-screen mother. “The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson,” the actor said. “A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton.”
