Evil Dead Burn will differ from other horror flicks in one major way. A cast member of the film has revealed how the franchise’s latest installment will be unique in handling a key element of the horror trope.
Evil Dead Burn subverts horror expectations with weapons audiences never see coming
Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), in a promotional clip for Evil Dead Burn, revealed that the upcoming film will subvert expectations of the horror genre, especially when weapons are used. Yacoub, who plays Alice in the film, said, “Evil Dead Burn is not a conventional horror movie. Every time you’re expecting one of the characters to grab a weapon, it’s not the one you were expecting. It’s quite mind-blowing.”
Alongside Yacoub, Evil Dead Burn also stars Tandi Wright as Susan, Hunter Doohan as Joseph, Luciane Buchanan as Thya, Erroll Shand as Edgar, Maude Davey as Polly, George Pullar as William, Tapiwa Soropa as Mike, Keanu Karim as Jared, Alain Chabat as Alice’s dad, and Greta Van Den Brink as Jessica.
Directed by Sébastien Vaniček (Infested), the horror flick is produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert (for Ghost House Pictures), New Line Cinema, and Screen Gems. Warner Bros. Pictures will handle distribution in the US and Canada, while Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute the film to other parts of the world.
The official synopsis of Evil Dead Burn reads, “Evil Dead Burn unleashes the franchise’s most savage and terrifying ride to date, blazing onto big screens with an all-new chapter of carnage and demonic mayhem. After the loss of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws in their secluded family home. As one by one they are transformed into Deadites—turning the gathering into a family reunion from hell—she comes to discover that the vows she took in life… live on even in death.”
Evil Dead Burn lands in theaters on July 10, 2026.
