Michael Bay and A Ghost Story director David Lowery have teamed up for a new paranormal horror movie. It will be based on a popular novel by John Langan.
What horror movie are David Lowery and Michael Bay collaborating on?
David Lowery and Michael Bay will work together on a paranormal horror film adaptation of Langan’s The Fisherman, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The novel was published in 2016 and follows Abe and Dan, two widowers who become friends and go fishing together in New York to deal with their sorrows. One day, Dan suggests they visit an isolated, mysterious place called Dutchman’s Creek. It’s said to enable a person to see their loved ones. However, their trip takes a terrifying turn when they encounter the mysterious Fisherman.
Langan’s book was highly admired and even received the Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel. It has often been described as a mix of cosmic horror and folk horror.

Speaking of Lowery, the director is also known for his other acclaimed projects such as 2013’s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, featuring Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara. He also directed 2023’s Peter Pan & Wendy and the critically acclaimed 2021 fantasy film The Green Knight, featuring Alicia Vikander and Dev Patel.
Lowery also worked on 2026’s Mother Mary, a musical drama led by Anne Hathaway alongside Hunter Schafer, FKA Twigs, and Alba Baptista, among others. In the past, Lowery was attached to the Star Wars franchise. He worked on some episodes of The Skeleton Crew series.
As for Bay, he is currently working on another project, a war movie for Universal, based on Operation Epic Fury. Best known for making Transformers films, Bay is also attached to Invisible Narratives’ upcoming Skibidi Toilet movie.
The paranormal horror adaptation of The Fisherman has yet to receive an official release window.
