Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man Gets a Surprising Nod in Unseen Brand New Day Scene

Previously unseen footage of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which references Tobey Maguire‘s version of the webslinger, is circulating online. It confirms that MCU Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, still remembers his alternate universe counterpart, aka Peter 2.

A new clip from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, circulating on social media, shows Spider-Man testing out his newfound organic webbing. Trying to calm himself while preparing, he says, “Organic webs. Peter 2 had them. He was cool. You’re cool.” He then fires his webs and flings himself across another building while screaming.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Maguire’s webslinger demonstrated his organic webbing to both Holland and Andrew Garfield‘s versions, as well as MJ and Ned, after expressing surprise at the former two’s need for artificial web shooters. His variants, especially Garfield’s iteration or Peter 3, were intrigued.

Later, while learning about each other at the Statue of Liberty, before battling their villains, Peter 3 shared his amazement at the unique ability. Meanwhile, Peter 2 did not want to talk about it out of embarrassment, even momentarily thinking his counterpart was teasing him.

Peter 3 apologized, believing he was intruding on something personal. However, Peter 2 clarified that it wasn’t the case. He admitted he wished he could explain it, but couldn’t, likening the process to breathing.

This is not the only nod towards Maguire’s Spider-Man in Brand New Day. Peter 1’s suit in the film pays homage to his outfit through the raised webbing and the front Spider symbol, which resembles the one seen in Peter 2’s suit.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters in the United States on July 31, 2026. Destin Daniel Cretton directed from Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Justin Kuritzkes’ screenplay.

Set four years after No Way Home, the story sees Spider-Man continue to protect New York City. While investigating a new mysterious threat, his powers undergo a surprising metamorphosis that not only grants him new abilities but also makes him seemingly more aggressive, making him determined to fix the problem.
