Netflix subscribers have limited time left to stream one of the platform’s most successful music biopics. Bohemian Rhapsody, the acclaimed Queen biopic featuring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, is among the films scheduled to leave the streaming platform in July. The musical drama became a global box office phenomenon during its theatrical run, earning more than $911 million worldwide. Subscribers now have a limited window to watch the film before its exit.

Bohemian Rhapsody is leaving Netflix next month

The hit 2018 biopic starring Rami Malek, is scheduled to exit the platform next month.

According to What’s on Netflix, Bohemian Rhapsody will be removed from Netflix’s library on July 1, 2026. This gives viewers a limited window to watch the acclaimed musical drama before it leaves the platform.

Released in November 2018, the film brought the story of the iconic British rock band Queen and its legendary frontman, Freddie Mercury, to the big screen. Directed by Bryan Singer and written by Anthony McCarten, the biographical drama became a major box office success, earning more than $911 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo).

The film follows Mercury’s journey from an aspiring musician to the frontman of one of the world’s biggest rock bands. As Queen achieves international success through a string of hit songs, tensions within the group escalate. Moreover, his personal struggles begin to surface, eventually leading him to pursue a solo career. 

The story also explores Mercury’s reunion with his bandmates ahead of Queen’s most popular appearance at the 1985 Live Aid concert. Rami Malek stars as Freddie Mercury, with Lucy Boynton portraying Mary Austin. The supporting cast includes Gwilym Lee as Brian May, Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor, Joe Mazzello as John Deacon, and Aidan Gillen as Queen manager John Reid.

Critical response was divided upon release, but audience response proved considerably stronger. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 60 percent critics’ score based on 417 reviews. Meanwhile, viewers awarded it an 85 percent audience score. It also enjoyed significant success during awards season, earning multiple honors. This includes Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and BAFTA Awards.
