Platonic, Apple TV’s beloved show starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, has been renewed for Season 3. The news comes two months after the Season 2 finale.
“‘Platonic is proof there is no duo better at making us belly laugh at midlife crises than Seth and Rose,” Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV, said in a press release. “Nick and Francesca accomplished the rare feat of taking the show to the next level in season two, and, along with our partners at Sony, we can’t wait to see what they cook up for season three.”
What do we know about Platonic Season 3?
Platonic stars Rogen and Byrne as Will and Sylvia, two former best friends who reconnect after a long break. Will is a recent divorcee, while Sylvia is a stay-at-home mother of three children. Both friends try to help each other deal with their midlife crises.
“Season two picks up with everyone’s favorite pair of best friends as they contend with new midlife hurdles, including work, weddings, and partners in crises,” Apple TV’s synopsis reads. “The duo tries their best to be each other’s rock, but sometimes rocks break things.”
Besides Rogen and Byrne, Season 2’s cast features Luke Macfarlane as Sylvia’s husband, Charlie, and Carla Gallo as Sylvia’s friend Katie. Guest stars include Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett, and Milo Manheim.
Platonic is created and executive produced by Nicholas Stoller and Francesca Delbanco. “We couldn’t be more excited to get back into the world of Platonic with our amazing partners, Rose and Seth, and Sony and Apple,” Stoller and Delbanco said in a statement.
Additional executive producers include Byrne, Rogen, Conor Welch, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver. The first two seasons of Platonic are streaming on Apple TV.
Rogen is coming off a banner year, where his other Apple TV comedy, The Studio, won a record-breaking 13 Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series. Meanwhile, Byrne is garnering Oscar buzz for her performance in the psychological drama movie, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
