HBO is officially developing a U.S. remake of Call My Agent, based on the popular French comedy-drama series Dix Pour Cent (Ten Percent). The original story follows the lives of four celebrity agents who are suddenly tasked with managing a Paris talent firm after their boss’s death. The hit show was acquired by Netflix in 2015, after its successful debut in France.
What do we know about HBO’s Call My Agent remake?
HBO’s Call My Agent remake will be a bit different from the original. Instead of revolving around celebrity agents, the American adaptation will instead follow four sports agents and will possibly feature real-life athletes. The show is being written by Sarah Schneider (The Other Two), who is also executive producing with Brad Pitt’s Plan B and LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Studios.
“In the U.S. adaptation, four work-obsessed sports agents struggle to balance their personal lives and their clients’ needs in an industry where, more and more, it feels like being an athlete is just the start,” reads the U.S. remake’s official synopsis.
Created by Fanny Herrero, the original series lasted for four seasons from 2015 to 2020. The cast included Camille Cottin, Thibault de Montalembert, Grégory Montel, Liliane Rovère, Fanny Sidney, Laure Calamy, Nicolas Maury, Stéfi Celma, and Assaad Bouab. It also featured many French celebrities playing meta versions of themselves. In 2021, it won an International Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series. Before the U.S. remake, the show had already been adapted in multiple countries, like the U.K., South Korea, India, Italy, Germany, and Indonesia.
