Josh Kelly, who plays Cody in General Hospital, has set the record straight on what truly matters to him: Molly or the money. For context, Cody has feelings for Molly, but Kristina’s deal is pushing him into doing things he doesn’t want to. He’s tasked with luring Ava to prove to Ric that she’s a bad person. In return, Kristina promises to pay him. However, Cody has started to realize the deal isn’t worth sacrificing real relationships. Kelly shares details on what led to this confession and sheds light on his and Molly’s connection.
Josh Kelly says Molly is more important to Cody than money on General Hospital
While speaking with Soap Opera Digest, Kelly explained that Cody found a “good excuse” to continue the deal with Kristina. Although he did grow conscious of leading an honest life, he also thought to complete his deal. This is the reason he came close to Ava in the stables. He got a sudden change of mind when his love interest, Molly, noticed the duo. This was a turning point that led him to confess the truth.
He said, “Out of left field, she’d been treating him kind of meanly. So he thought, ‘Well, I guess she’s not into me.’ But when she catches him with Ava, the way she reacts, I think that Cody subconsciously starts to think that maybe there is something there. And he likes her, and he doesn’t want to hurt her.”
Further stating his reasons to like Molly, he added, “Because she seems like an honest person in a dishonest town and a dishonest world, and that’s kind of refreshing. Like everyone in Port Charles, she’s been hurt and he’s been hurt, so they can relate to one another. And when the universe keeps putting you together, you start to take notice.”
Kelly reveals that after the confession, Molly does get shocked, but not as much as Ava, whom he had been playing all along on Kristina’s request. Expressing his worries for his character, he jokingly said, “I hope she doesn’t murder Cody!” He expressed hope about Molly and Cody’s potential romance. He thinks it might happen when Cody gradually admits the truth, which will then sow the seed of trust and faith between them. He further reassures that for Cody, Molly is more important than money.
