Why Fans Think a Gilded Age & Downton Abbey Crossover Will Happen

TV crossovers are an interesting prospect for viewers, especially when the shows involved are The Gilded Age and Downton Abbey, two very famous shows with huge fan bases. While viewers have been rooting for this for quite a while now, the creator of both shows, Julian Fellowes, gave an interesting update that is sure to have fans on their toes.

Is a Gilded Age and Downton Abbey crossover happening?

There have been talks of a crossover between The Gilded Age and Downton Abbey before, but the prospect was left with no updates — until recently. The shows’ creator, Julian Fellowes, has offered an optimistic update on this.

As per his latest interview with TV Line, Fellowes assured fans that they have the opportunity for a crossover, though they do not have one planned yet. He said, “Well, obviously there’s an opportunity to [stage a crossover], because they are both in England. Things like the shooting season or whatever would incorporate many great houses for all of these families, as they would travel around England. We can bring about a conjunction whenever we wish, really, but we haven’t got one planned yet, so we’ll have to see.” (via ScreenRant)

The Gilded Age recently concluded its third season at an all-time high. Meanwhile, Downton Abbey is set to return with a final film, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, in theaters in September. The Gilded Age will also return with a fourth season as HBO has already renewed it.

This also means that both shows and the set of characters remain active in their respective narratives, making this a bigger possibility. So, while there is no confirmation yet, the possibility of a crossover between the two famous shows remains. There are also many ways to do it, especially with the third season making the prospect more plausible.

Hence, fans can hope for this to happen in the future. But it does not seem to come out anytime soon.
