Blockbuster director Michael Bay is seemingly planning his return to the Transformers franchise for a brand new live-action movie. The filmmaker helmed the first five installments of the action sci-fi franchise, with Shia LaBeouf leading the cast of 2007’s Transformers, 2009’s Revenge of the Fallen, and 2011’s Dark of the Moon.
What do we know about Michael Bay’s new Transformers movie?
According to a new report, Bay pitched a new Transformers movie to Paramount Pictures last year with the intention to return as a “hands-on producer” and potential director. He has enlisted scribe Jordan VanDina to write the project’s screenplay. Further details about its plot and characters are still under wraps.
Since Bay exited the franchise, its live-action movies have been struggling at the box office as Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon remains the franchise’s highest-grossing movie with a total worldwide gross of over $1.1 billion at the box office. At the moment, Paramount Pictures is also currently developing a Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover movie.
Bay is best known for his work on blockbuster movies, including the Bad Boys movies, Armageddon, and the Transformers movies. He is acknowledged as the fourth-most commercially successful director in movie history. It was recently reported that he’s collaborating with Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney on the upcoming live-action film adaptation of OutRun, based on one of Sega‘s popular arcade video game series. Bay is also set to produce the upcoming Skibidi Toilet movie, based on the popular machinima web series from the YouTube channel DaFuq!?Boom!.
