It has already been a year since it was announced that Netflix has started development on a One Tree Hill reboot of the hit teen drama from The CW. Now, we finally have an update regarding the project’s current status from one of the original show’s stars, who is expected to return for the reboot.
What was Sophia Bush’s One Tree Hill sequel update?
During a recent interview with ComingSoon, Sophia Bush, who portrayed the role of Brooke Davis in One Tree Hill, has shared a positive update about the current development of the reboot. She teased that there is still an “incredibly long” way to go before the project moves to production, but assured fans that “development is going very well.”
“All I can really say is now people, I think, are beginning to understand how incredibly long and arduous the development process is,” Bush said. “Filming is really the best part. The pre-production stuff is tricky, but development is going very well. We’ll see where we wind up.”
One Tree Hill was created by showrunner Mark Schwahn. It ran on-air for nine seasons from 2003-2012. The original cast also included Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Hilarie Burton, Daneel Ackles, James Lafferty, Bethany Joy Galeotti, Paul Johansson, Barry Corbin, Craig Sheffer, and Moira Kelly. Besides Bush, Burton and Ackles are also attached as executive producers on the reboot, and are also in negotations to reprise their respective roles as Peyton Sawyer and Rachel Gatina.
The original drama centered around the lives the life and relationships of a group of characters in the fictional town of Tree Hill, North Carolina. Their story began in high school but soon saw them grow up and deal with lives after college. The show also featured multiple time jumps forward, with the final few seasons dealing with the lives of the characters after having fully graduated from college.
