Rory Gibson says Michael is ‘not ashamed’ of his baby with Sasha in General Hospital
Rory Gibson took over the role of Michael during a complicated juncture of General Hospital. There is a custody battle, a pregnancy, and a lot of drama unfolding all around. Recently, Rory Gibson spoke to Soap Opera Digest. He discussed his takeover from Chad Duell and Sasha’s pregnancy.
Rory Gibson discussed how he stepped in at a time when things were quite explosive in General Hospital. “It was more difficult than it would be to film a wedding where everyone’s kind of happy-go-lucky, for the most part at least!” the actor said. But there was a silver lining. “The intensity in the room was pretty prevalent, and I feel like me not being super-familiar with everyone yet kind of helped me focus a little bit more. I was a little bit more locked in because in this situation,” added Gibson.
Chad Duell was playing Michael when the complications with Willow slowly drove them to the edge of a divorce. But Rory Gibson managed to slip right into the role and pick up exactly where Duell left off.
However, Michael is at such a complicated juncture in his life that Gibson had to work harder to fit in. In a recent twist, Sasha was forced to admit she was pregnant with Michael’s child. This sequence required a greater amount of effort from Gibson. He said about this, “That was quite tricky because I don’t really speak during those scenes, but I knew that the cameras would be cutting to me, and I knew this was a big moment for Michael, too. He knows this is going to hurt his case, but Michael never wanted to keep the paternity a secret in the first place. If Michael had it his way, everyone would [already] know, and he would be there for Sasha.”
Gibson further claimed that Michael was not ashamed of the baby. “He wants to be there for his kids and love his kids. So, this is a bump in the road, but now, the opportunity for him to be a father to his child is there. I think that he’s worried, but he also has peace of mind in knowing that he doesn’t have to keep this giant secret anymore,” the actor added.
Michael has accepted the baby. Now, it will be interesting to see where things go in the upcoming episodes of General Hospital.
