Two years after receiving an acquittal from all of his nine sexual offense charges, Kevin Spacey has officially joined the cast of an upcoming conspiracy thriller titled The Awakening. Also featuring the likes of Peter Stormare and Alice Eve, the film would be the first high-profile project for the House of Cards actor since his legal tussle began.
The Awakening adds Kevin Spacey to cast
Helmed by Matt Routledge, The Awakening has now added two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey to its cast in an undisclosed role.
Serving as the debut for Justin Tinto, the film will follow his character Jason and Alice Eve’s Rebecca embark on a journey to debunk a conspiracy that threatens to alter the dynamics of the world. On their way to uncover the truth, the duo encounters a horde of roadblocks and secrets that force them to solve the mystery in a limited amount of time.
In addition to Stormare, Tinto, Eve, and Spacey, The Awakening stars Steve Berkoff, Julian Glover, Matt Hookings, and Eddie Hall, the former World’s Strongest Man, in the supporting cast, as per Variety.
Meanwhile, Tinto and Routledge, along with Matt Hookings, have composed the screenplay for the forthcoming action thriller. Hookings also acts as the producer for The Awakening, alongside Tim Kent, with Tinto, Sally Woodward, Adrian Goodisman, and Pia Patatian serving as the executive producers. Furthermore, the movie is presently in its post-production phase.
Patatian’s Cloud9 Studios has taken up the responsibility to initiate worldwide sales for The Awakening in Cannes. Talking about the renowned studio’s impact on Routledge’s feature, producer Kent noted, “Filming our conspiracy thriller at the iconic Pinewood Studios added a unique layer of intrigue to the project. The studio’s rich history of filmmaking, combined with our gripping narrative, has resulted in a film that we believe will resonate with audiences seeking thought-provoking and thrilling entertainment.”
While The Awakening will be one of the first major big-screen outings for Kevin Spacey in a long while, the movie has yet to receive an official release date schedule from its creators.
