COGN-AI-TIVE Cast: Piper Curda, Noel Fisher, and Josh Zuckerman to Topline Upcoming AI Thriller

May December’s Piper Curda, Shameless’ Noel Fisher, and Oppenheimer’s Josh Zuckerman have joined the cast for Tommy Savas’ AI thriller project, COGN-AI-TIVE. According to Deadline, the film — which serves as Savas’ feature directorial debut — has already wrapped production.

COGN-AI-TIVE, written by Angie Simms, hails from Reckless Content and Bridge & Tunnel Films. In addition to the three main leads, the indie film will also star Ritesh Rajan (Russian Doll), Natasha Behnam (The Girls on the Bus), Lucius Baybak (Dear White People).

What is COGN-AI-TIVE about?

The outlet reported that the film will revolve around a startup pioneering tech that plans to launch a new AI chatbot called COGN-AI-TIVE. However, despite their creation’s undeniable intelligence, the chatbot soon exhibits an unsettling dark side.

The director shared with Deadline his inspiration behind what he described as a commentary on modern society’s reliance on technology and AI.

“I’ve always been inspired by the iconic cinema of the ’90s. This film not only pays homage to the visual language of that era, but also serves as a mirror reflecting the societal implications of our intimate relationship with technology, and the nostalgia that is now getting lost because of it,” said Savas.

While COGN-AI-TIVE has already wrapped production, other details about the film remain under wraps. However, it will be interesting to see how the project will play out considering the stars involved in the production.

Curda can be seen in Netflix’s Todd Haynes-directed May December, opposite Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman, and Charles Melton. She is also set to star in the upcoming romantic dramedy Something Casual. Moreover, Fisher has appeared in a number of movies and television shows, such as Battle Los Angeles, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Castle Rock, and The Red Line, among others.

Additionally, Fisherman has starred in various features and shows and most recently portrayed physicist Rossi Lomanitz in the Christopher Nolan-helmed biopic Oppenheimer. His television credits include The Offer, Significant Mother, Alaska Daily, and more.

The film’s producers are Judy Craig and Kelly May, with Justine Mooney co-producing. It is executive produced by Jason Schnell. Cameron Fife, on the other hand, serves as the film’s line producer.
