Filmfare Awards 2024: Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Vikrant Massey Bag Top Awards

The 69th Filmfare Awards in Gujarat was a night full of stars and celebrations. Bollywood’s best talent was there, and Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vikrant Massey, amongst others, won the biggest acting awards.

Ranbir Kapoor bagged the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) award. He was awarded for his remarkable performance in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, which stirred much conversation upon its release. However, Ranbir’s acting in the film was lauded for its depth and intensity. This win marked another milestone in his already illustrious career.

Alia Bhatt was awarded the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female). She won the award for her role in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Her performance in this romantic family drama was both heartwarming and compelling. This win has further cemented her status as one of Bollywood’s finest actresses.

The Filmfare Critics’ Award for Best Film went to Devashish Makhija’s thriller Joram. This category’s winners reflected the diverse and rich talent pool in Bollywood, with Vikrant Massey (12th Fail), Rani Mukerji (Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway), and Shefali Shah (Three Of Us) being honored for their exceptional performances.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra emerged as the Best Director for his work on the biographical drama 12th Fail, which also won the Best Film award. Along with this, Vikrant Massey also received an award for 12th Fail. This film triumphed over other strong contenders like Jawan, OMG 2, Pathaan, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

In the supporting categories, Vicky Kaushal and Shabana Azmi were recognized for their roles in Dunki and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, respectively. The awards for Best Lyrics, Music Album, Playback Singers, and others across various technical fields highlighted the multifaceted talent contributing to the success of Bollywood films.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to David Dhawan, honoring his immense contributions to Indian cinema. His career, marked by numerous successful films, has significantly shaped the landscape of the Bollywood comedy genre.
