Boy Kills World: Lionsgate Nabs Rights to Bill Skarsgård Action Movie

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have officially acquired the theatrical rights to the upcoming action thriller Boy Kills World, starring John Wick: Chapter 4’s Bill Skarsgård.

The acquisition deal comes after the film had its world premiere at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. It is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 26, 2024, which pits the film directly against Luca Guadagnino’s Zendaya-led tennis drama Challengers.

What to expect in Boy Kills World?

“In the film, Skarsgård stars as Boy, a deaf-mute with a vivid imagination, driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, avows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy, the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deafened, and voiceless,” reads the synopsis.

“Boy trains with a mysterious shaman to become an instrument of death and is set loose on the eve of the annual culling of dissidents. Bedlam ensues as Boy commits bloody martial arts mayhem, inciting a wrath of carnage and blood-letting. As he tries to get his bearings in this delirious realm, Boy soon falls in with a desperate resistance group, all the while bickering with the apparent ghost of his rebellious little sister.”

Boy Kills World is directed and executive produced by Moritz Mohr from a screenplay written by Arend Remmers and Tyler Burton Smith, based on a story by Mohr and Remmers. The film also stars Jessica Rothe, Andrew Koji, Michelle Dockery, Brett Gelman, Isaiah Mustafa, martial arts master Yayan Ruhian, Nicholas and Cameron Crovetti, Quinn Copeland, Sharlto Copley and Famke Janssen.

It is produced by Sam Raimi, Zainab Azizi, Roy Lee, Wayne Fitzjohn, Simon Swart, Alex Lebovici, Stuart Manashil, and Dan Kagan. Executive producers are Sipho Nkosi, Mxolisi Mgojo, Humphrey Mathe, Reza Brojerdi, Christian Mercuri, and Andrew Childs. It hails from Nthibah Pictures, Raimi Productions, Vertigo Entertainment, and Hammerstone Studios Production.
