The Blob Remake In the Works at WB, Director Revealed

A new remake of The Blob is in the works at Warner Bros. Discovery, with an experienced horror director set to helm the reimagining.

The Wrap has reported that David Bruckner is set to direct this new version of The Blob. Bruckner has experience with the horror genre, as he directed the films The Ritual, The Night House, 2022’s Hellraiser, and the Total Copy segment of V/H/S/85.

The exact details of the remake‘s story have yet to be revealed, though the original 1958 movie revolves around a gelatinous alien that arrives in a small town on a meteorite as it grows and expands by absorbing people.

The outlet notes that the new movie will be produced by David Goyer and Keith Levine of Phantom Four, while Judith Harris is set to executive produce the film. Finally, Zach Hamby will oversee The Blob for Warner Bros.

How many The Blob remakes have been made?

The original movie The Blob was first released in 1958 and starred Steve McQueen. A remake was released in 1988, which was directed by Chuck Russell and starred Kevin Dillon and Shawnee Smith. Another remake was revealed in 2009, which was being worked on by Rob Zombie. After Zombie left the project, it was set to be directed by Con Air director Simon West, though the project hasn’t received any updates in years.
