Adam Sandler’s New Movie Earns a Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

Adam Sandler won our hearts with the Netflix sports drama Hustle. However, his comedies haven’t always struck a chord with the critics well. Fortunately, his latest comedy You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah is about to change that with a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.

When critics have seen a comedy from the Happy Madison founder in the past, the reviews aren’t exactly praiseworthy. His history of critical flops in the comedy genre includes Jack and Jill, Mr. Deeds, Grown Ups, That’s My Boy, and more. Now, though, you can give a Mazel Tov to You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah which, according to NME, has earned a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. It’s currently glowing on the review collection website with 100% based on five reviews. This might mark the first time a feature-length Sandler-produced movie gets a fresh rating! His only movie to come close would be his stand-up film Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh with a 90% score.

From what you can see in the Adam Sandler comedy trailer, the entire Sandler clan plays the main cast. The SNL vet’s daughter, Sunny, takes the lead as Sadie ready for her Bat Mitzvah along with her best friend. Things take an unexpected turn when she sees her best friend kissing her crush, causing a war between the two. Sunny’s real-life older sister, Sadie, will also be sharing the screen with her. Adam Sandler’s real-life wife, Jackie Sandler, will also have a role as the mom of Sadie’s best friend. As Sandler’s family has made cameos in past movies, their talents are sure to shine through in this Netflix comedy.

What Have the Critics Said About Adam Sandler’s New Movie?

So far, critics have been saying You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah is a relatable coming-of-age movie and “a fun family affair.” Variety‘s Courtney Howard has even gone as far as to connect it to two nostalgic teenage favs.

“Playing like a cross between Judy Blume’s ‘Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret’ and John Hughes’ ‘Sixteen Candles’ in scale, scope and sound without being derivative, its characters, conflicts and conundrums are filled with potent, earned emotions.”

Another critic, Fred Topel from United Press International, believes this will be a memorable, quotable movie for young viewers. It appears we’ve got a coming-of-age classic on our hands. It’s true that the Rotten Tomatoes rating can realistically change once the movie hits Netflix on August 25. But, it’s still a fantastic debut rating for the Adam Sandler family comedy.
