Shia LaBeouf Writing Auschwitz Movie With Abel Ferrara

Shia LaBeouf is reportedly writing a script set in the infamous Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz. Word comes from director and LaBeouf collaborator, Abel Ferrara.

What is Shia LaBeouf writing about?

Speaking to The Film Stage (via IndieWire) recently, Ferrara — who directed LaBeouf in the recent film Padre Pio — said that the pair of them were working on the film, with LaBeouf writing the project.

“He’s doing real good, man. He’s doing real good. He went off and he did a Coppola movie,” Ferrara said, referring to the upcoming Francis Ford Coppola film Megalopolis.

“So that was, there was one of those films, right? I mean, Padre Pio was 15 days or 20 days and he was in for four so he wasn’t there a long time. But anyway, it was good and he’s working. And we’re working on a film together, he’s writing something about Auschwitz that we’re thinking about doing.”

While known primarily for his acting roles, LaBeouf has screenwriting experience. Previously, the star made his screenwriting debut with the autobiographical film Honey Boy, which was directed by Alma Har’el. LaBeouf later clarified that the film is largely a work of fiction.

His latest role was in Ferrara’s Padre Pio, his first major role since claims of sexual battery, assault, and numerous other allegations were made against the actor by artist and former significant other FKA Twigs. LeBeouf admitted in an appearance on Jon Bernthal’s podcast Real Ones that he had “hurt” FKA Twigs, while not going into too many specifics.

Following his role in Padre Pio, LeBeouf is also set to appear in Francis Ford Coppola’s 2024 film Megalopolis.
