Laurence Fishburne to Reprise Ant-Man and the Wasp Role in Marvel’s What If…?

Acclaimed actor Laurence Fishburne has let slip that he will be reprising his Marvel Cinematic Universe role in Marvel’s What If…? in the future.

Brandon Pope TV posted an interview clip to Twitter that features Fishburne speaking about his MCU role as Bill Foster, who last appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp. After the interviewer expressed their surprise at Foster not appearing in this year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Fishburne revealed that he’s set to return in the animated Disney+ series.

“Bill Foster shows up in What If…?,” the actor said. When asked if he did voice work for it, Fishburne answered, “Yeah, yeah, Bill Foster shows up in What If…? as Giant-Man, actually.”

In the comics, Bill Foster has been known as Giant-Man, Goliath, and Black Goliath. Thus far, Foster has only appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, though Fishburne also played the role of The Beyonder in Marvel’s recent animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

The first season of What If…? hailed from head writer A.C. Bradley and director Bryan Andrew. The animated series also featured the introduction of The Watcher, who served as the narrator throughout the first season and was voiced by Jeffrey Wright. Season 2 was originally set to debut on Disney+ in early 2023, though no exact release date has been given.
