Steve Carell to Headline ACME-Focused Looney Tunes Movie

It was nearly four years ago that word first broke of a Warner Bros. live action/CGI project that would be set in the world of the studio’s hit “Looney Tunes” franchise and take place inside a warehouse belonging to the ACME corporation. Today, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the project is moving forward with Steve Carell set to star, X-Men: First Class‘s Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz set to script and Crazy Stupid Love helmers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa in talks to direct.

Originally pitched by Kevin and Dan Hageman, the ACME film will focus on the behind-the-scenes working of the imaginary company, famous for its elaborate trap products that Wile E. Coyote repeatedly makes use of to limited success.

Though any continuity in Looney Tunes is sketchy at best, the ACME Corporation made a previous live-action appearance in 2003’s Looney Tunes: Back in Action where Steve Martin portrayed the conglomerate’s corporate head, Mr. Chairman.

The LEGO Movie‘s Dan Lin and Roy Lee are attached to produce.
