Sonic the Hedgehog 2 TV Spot Teases Sonic and Knuckles Showdown

Paramount Pictures has dropped another TV spot for the upcoming adventure comedy film Sonic the Hedgehog 2, featuring the return of Ben Schwartz as the voice of the titular speedster. The sequel is slated to hit theaters on April 28, 2022.

The video, which you can check out below, features some new action-packed footage highlighting the impending showdown between Sonic and Knuckles, who will be voiced by The Suicide Squad‘s Idris Elba.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will also star  James Marsden (Westworld), Tika Sumpter (Ride Along), Natasha Rothwell (Wonder Woman 1984), Adam Pally (The Mindy Project), Jim Carrey (Kidding), and Shemar Moore. It will also feature the live-action debut of Tails, set to be voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey (Blade Runner: Black Lotus).

“After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero,” reads the official synopsis. “His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.”

The sequel is directed by Jeff Fowler, who made his feature debut on the hit predecessor. Writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller, with Neal H. Mortiz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara are all returning to produce while Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi, and Tim Miller return to executive produce.
