Scream Celebrates the Holidays With Three New Photos

To celebrate Day 11 of “12 Screams for the Holidays,” the Scream official Twitter account dropped three new photos teasing the horror film, which will hit theaters on January 14, 2022, from Paramount Pictures.

The photos, which you can check out in the gallery below, feature Ghostface, Scream vets Courteney Cox and David Arquette, and franchise newcomers Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera, and Dylan Minnette.

The fifth installment of Scream is co-directed by Ready or Not filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay co-written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not). The film stars returning vets Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Marley Shelton.

“Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past,” reads the synopsis.

Joining them are franchise newcomers Jack Quaid (The Boys), Melissa Barrera (Vida), Jenna Ortega (The Babysitter: Killer Queen), Mason Gooding (Booksmart), Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why), Kyle Gallner (Ghosts of War), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers) and Mikey Madison (Better Things).

Scream is being produced by Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt as well as Paul Neinstein and William Sherak for Spyglass. Original screenwriter Kevin Williamson is also executive producing with Radio Silence’s third member Chad Villella.

The first film, released in 1996, was a surprise smash upon its debut, helping to revive the horror genre for the decade and becoming the highest-grossing slasher movie of all-time until it was dethroned by last year’s Halloween reboot. The first’s success spawned a franchise that includes three sequels, the first of which remained equally as successful as the first while the previous two saw middling box office returns and mixed reviews.
