WB Takes Shane Black’s The Nice Guys, Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling Confirmed

The stars rumored for the roles last month, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that both Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling will lead Shane Black’s ’70s comedy-noir, The Nice Guys. What’s more, Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up the rights and will see the project through production.

Black, the man behind Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3, is both writing and directing The Nice Guys, which is set in Los Angeles in the 1970s, pairing a fighter and a private detective as they attempt to solve a murder.

Crowe recently starred in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah and is soon set to make his directorial debut with The Water Diviner. Gosling’s own first directorial feature, Lost River, stars Christina Hendricks, Matt Smith, Eva Mendes, Saoirse Ronan and Ben Mendelsohn and just premiered at Cannes.

Although it has not been confirmed, it is expected that Black will move The Nice Guys through production before filming the upcoming Predator sequel.
