South Park Creators Attempting to Buy Real-Life Casa Bonita

Fans of South Park will know the name Casa Bonita from its various inclusions in different episodes of the show. However, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are now attempting to become the new owners of the real-life Casa Bonita after the restaurant filed for bankruptcy.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, South Park creators Parker and Stone are trying to buy the restaurant in an effort to spruce up the place. “We want to buy Casa Bonita and treat it right. I feel like it was neglected even before the pandemic,” Parker said in a comment.

“We are absolutely trying to buy it,” Parker continued. “We are going to do everything we can. We want to make it right and make it amazing.”

Summit Family Restaurants, the company that currently owns Casa Bonita, recently filed for Chapter 11 protection in Arizona on April 6. Due to ongoing court proceedings, Parker noted that a possible sale is still up in the air, but that the duo is actively trying to make it happen.

Much like its South Park counterpart, the real Casa Bonita (located in Lakewood, Colorado) is a Mexican restaurant, complete with an arcade, cave, and waterfall with cliff divers. The restaurant originally opened in 1974, and according to Parker, the duo will aim to fix things up and add some changes should the sale end up going through.

“We started talking about the changes we’re going to make — mostly with the food,” Parker said. “We’re going to make really awesome food. I was already thinking about how I was going to make Black Bart’s Cave a little bigger.”
