According to TheWrap, 11-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift (Valentine’s Day, The Lorax) has officially signed on to join director David O. Russell’s upcoming untitled feature. Further details about her character are still being kept under wraps, but she will be joining previously announced A-list cast members including, Oscar winners Christian Bale, Rami Malek, and Robert De Niro along with Oscar nominee Margot Robbie, Anya Taylor-Joy, and more.

This marks the popstar’s first major film acting project in more than a year, following her appearance in another star-studded movie with Tom Hopper’s negatively-received adaptation of Cats in 2019. Last year, she also starred in two documentary films last year, one for Netflix titled Miss Americana, and one for Disney+ titled Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions.

The untitled project will be written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker David O. Russell, which serves as his feature directing comeback after nearly 6 years since directing 2015’s Golden Globe-nominated feature Joy. Further details about the plot and characters are still being kept under wraps, but it is said to be based on Russell’s original idea which is reportedly a period comedy about a doctor and a lawyer.

The film will be led by Oscar-winner Christian Bale, who is reuniting with Russell for the third time after the two joined forces on The Fighter (for which Bale won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor) and American Hustle. It will also star Oscar nominee Margot Robbie (I, Tonya), John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman), Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, Creed), Oscar winner Rami Malek (No Time to Die), and Zoe Saldana (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) along with frequent Russell collaborator Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Shannon, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts, Leland Orser, and Alessandro Nivola.
