Netflix’s Sonic Prime Details Shared By Showrunner Joe Kelly

During Sega’s Sonic Central stream, Sonic Prime showrunner Joey Kelly of Man of Action Entertainment discussed new his studio and the upcoming Netflix series.

“Man of Action is a writer’s collective consisting of myself, Joe Casey, Steven T. Seagle, and Duncan Rouleau. We created a couple of things you might have heard of. The Ben 10 franchise for Cartoon Network, the heroes and team of Big Hero 6 for Disney, and a bunch of other shows that we’ve worked on over the years in animation. We’ve been kind of busy,” Kelly said of the studio.

Among the new details that Kelly gave, we now know that it will take place in the “Shatterverse,” which was previously described as a strange multiverse that Sonic finds himself in.

“We are very excited to be working with Sega and Sonic on this project during Sonic‘s 30th anniversary. This is a dream project for us. We’ve been working really hard to bring fans something they’ve never seen before in a Sonic series. We’ll be bringing our experience and passion for the brand with us in Sonic Prime. To deliver a fun and exciting series for Sonic fans of all ages. Over the course of 24 episodes, Sonic will be thrust into a high-speed adventure through the strange and mysterious Shatterverse. It’s up to Sonic to save the universe and along the way experience moments of self-discovery and redemption. Sonic Prime is set to premiere worldwide in 2022. We look forward to taking this journey with you and sharing more information with you at a later date.”

He ended the stream segment by pointing at the logo behind him, which is of Sonic’s main villain Dr. Robotnik.

Sonic Prime is an animated adventure for kids, families, and long-time fans draws upon the keystones of the brand and features the “Blue Blur” of video game fame in a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his gloved hands. Sonic’s adventure is about more than a race to save the universe, it’s a journey of self-discovery and redemption.

As the beloved video game celebrates its upcoming 30th anniversary this 2021, the Netflix animated series aims to captivate the imaginations of audiences ages six to 11, as well as legacy Sonic fans of all ages, and will match the scale and scope of the epic adventures synonymous with the Sonic franchise.
