Watch_Dogs Coming Between April and June, But Not Yet for the Wii U

Ubisoft announced today during an earnings conference call that it is planning on releasing Watch_Dogs in the company’s first quarter of the 2014-2015 fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2014 through 2014. The game, which was delayed last October, will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC at that time.

Missing from that list is the Wii U version, which will be coming at a later date, says Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. “We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of ‘Watch_Dogs’ on Wii U to focus the team’s resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft,” he said.

As fas as the different consoles, Guillemot said “‘Watch_Dogs’ on current-gen is really looking very good, and we’ve been able to put lots of the features that are in next-gen, so you can expect this game to be fantastic as well.”

The game was originally scheduled to hit next-gen consoles on November 19, 2013 in North America and November 22, 2013 in Europe.

In Watch_Dogs, players will assume the role of Aiden Pearce, a new type of vigilante who, with the help of his smartphone, will use his ability to hack into Chicago’s central operating system (ctOS) and control almost every element of the city. Aiden will be able to tap into the city’s omnipresent security cameras, download personal information to locate a target, control systems such as traffic lights or public transportation to stop a chase, and more. The city of Chicago is now the ultimate weapon.
