The film comes from a spec script by Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka. The pair have previously collaborated on The Sitter and Superstore. Moore is set to produce the project with Bart Freundlich, Gatewood, Tanaka, and Erik Feig of Picturestart, with A24 serving as the studio. Picturestart is attached as the production company.

Moore previously collaborated with Apple on the limited series Lisey’s Story, based on Stephen King’s novel. The series is a deeply personal thriller from King and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions as well as Warner Bros. Television.

The cast for Lisey’s Story also includes Clive Owen (Children of Men), Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), and Fast and Furious alum Sung Kang. Written and executive produced by King, the 8-episode miniseries will follow Lisey two years after her husband’s death as she begins facing amazing realities about her husband that she had repressed and forgotten.

Lisey’s Story was inspired by King’s own experience when he was involved in a serious accident in June 1999. The idea for the novel sprang from a sudden realization he had when he came home from the hospital and saw that all of his belongings were in boxes. Because of that, he saw a vision of what his studio would look like after his death.
