The Snow White tale is based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale. Disney’s animated movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, debuted over 80 years ago in 1937. The movie followed princess Snow White as she is exiled into the dangerous forest by her wicked stepmother and is rescued by seven dwarf miners who make her part of their household. The movie was nominated for a Best Music Oscar, with Walt Disney winning an honorary award for the film.

There have been a number of adaptations over the years, including Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart, and Chris Hemsworth, and 2012’s Mirror Mirror starring Julia Roberts and Lily Collins.

Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl on the Train) is also in talks to write the script for the live-action remake, which will expand upon the story and music from the animated classic. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen) will write new songs for the movie. Marc Platt will serve as producer.
