Breaking News In Yuba County Adds Allison Janney, Mila Kunis and More

According to Deadline, Academy Award-winning actress Allison Janney (I, Tonya), Mila Kunis (Bad Moms), Regina Hall (Girls’ Trip), Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) and Samira Wiley (Orange is the New Black) have been tapped to star together in director Tate Taylor’s forthcoming comedy-drama titled Breaking News In Yuba County. This project will mark the third collaboration between Janney and Taylor, who previously collaborated on The Help and The Girl on the Train.

In addition, Bridget Everett (Trainwreck), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld), and Keong Sim (Dead to Me) have also signed on for the film with Juliette Lewis (Camping), Ellen Barkin (Switch) and Wanda Sykes (The Chris Rock Show) currently in negotiations to join the star-studded cast.

Written by Amanda Idoko, Breaking News In Yuba County will follow the story of a pencil pusher woman (Janney) who catches her husband in bed with another woman, which causes him to die of a heart attack. So she buries his body and takes advantage of the growing celebrity status that comes from having a missing husband. However, she soon finds herself in over her head, dodging cops and criminals, all while trying hide the the truth, especially from her half- sister (Kunis), a local news anchor who’s desperate for a story, and a determined local police detective (Hall).

Production is scheduled to begin next month in Mississippi.
