Kevin Feige Says a Captain Marvel Film Would be ‘Very Cool’

It’s only a matter of time before Marvel Studios releases a film which focuses on one of their many wonderful female heroes. There have been several rumors and stories regarding a potential Black Widow movie, but in a recent interview with Badass Digest, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige indicates they would rather start fresh with a new character.

“Frankly if we do a Black Widow movie after Age of Ultron, when she’s been central in three or four movies I don’t think we’d get the quote unquote credit for it. People would say ‘She’s already a big giant superhero!’ But if we had a great idea, we’d do it….I like the idea if we’re going to do a [female lead] do a new one. Do a wholly new character, do an origin story.”

But which hero would they use? Feige was asked about Captain Marvel, to which he replied:

“We’ve talked a lot about [Captain Marvel]. I think that would be very cool.”

Captain Marvel has seen a surge in popularity in the recent years, due largely in part to her revived comic series that saw former Ms. Marvel Carol Danvers “promoted” to the moniker of the former Kree superhero.
