Full Second Season Trailer for ‘House of Cards’

I don’t watch a ton of television, but I am looking forward to the second season of Netflix’s “House of Cards” if only because it sounds as if it will be the final season. This is why I love movies so much, I like finality, a sense that a vision is complete and can exist on its own without needing more and more and more. I don’t mind sequels, but I like when a project can exist and live on its own without the assistance of something more.

I felt the first season of “House of Cards” suffered from this very thing, almost forcing itself to be something more than it was so a second season could be made. I haven’t watched “American Horror Story” yet, but I get the sense from the way they subtitle each season they have managed to accomplish something with each season similar to what I’m describing. Am I wrong?

As for this second season of “Cards”, here’s a new synopsis:

Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) has masterfully maneuvered his way into the Vice Presidency, but his ascension faces threats on all fronts… Investigative reporter Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) is inching closer to the truth about Frank and Peter Russo (Corey Stoll) and will stop at nothing to break the story. And Frank’s wife Claire (Robin Wright), the newly appointed Second Lady, must deal with the bright glare of the spotlight and how the intense scrutiny eats away at their once private existence.

Let the butchery begin…

As much as I love Spacey, I saw the first season as a showcase for Robin Wright and I can’t wait to see what she delivers this time around. The show returns to the streaming service on Valentine’s Day 2014.
