The Girl Who Played with Fire Still Moving Forward

Screenwriter Steven Zaillian is still hard at work on a the sequel screenplay The Girl Who Played with Fire, EW reports, but the project is now not slated to hit theaters until 2014 at the earliest.

Based on the novel by Stieg Larsson, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo sequel sees Mikael Blomkvist, publisher of Millennium magazine, approached by a young journalist with a meticulously researched thesis about sex trafficking in Sweden and those in high office who abuse underage girls. From there, Blomkvist immediately throws himself into the investigation.

It is unclear whether or not Dragon Tatoo director David Fincher will return to direct at this point, but stars Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig are both signed for Fire and for an adaptation of the final book, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.
