License to Drive Remake in Development at 20th Century Fox

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that 20th Century Fox is developing a remake of the 1988 feature film License to Drive.

The original comedy was released in 1988 and stars Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, and Heather Graham. In the film, Haim starred as a 16-year-old high school student who failed his driver’s test but sneaks out in his grandfather’s prized 1972 Cadillac Sedan de Ville for a night on the town with his friends.

The original was written by Neil Tolkin and directed by Greg Beeman, bringing in $22 million at the domesitc box office on a budget of just $8 million.

The License to Drive remake will be written by Alisha Brophy and Scott Miles (Girl Problems) with women in the two lead roles. John Davis is producing.
