The Stare Locks Franco and Ryder

James Franco and Winona Ryder are set to star in The Stare, Deadline reports. The film, to be directed by Jay Anania will represent the first film from the newly-launched Waterstone Entertainment.

Ryder will star as a playwright who begins to lose track of reality during a mounting production with Franco appearing as one of the actors.

Anania most recently directed Shadows and Lies, which also starred Franco. Ryder recently appeared in the similarly-themed Black Swan last year as well as in this year’s Ron Howard dark comedy, The Dilemma. She is next scheduled to provide a voice for Tim Burton’s stop motion project Frankenweenie. Franco, meanwhile, is set to appear in Rise of the Planet of the Apes this summer and will soon reteam with Sam Raimi for Oz, the Great and Powerful.
