Lovelace, from Howl directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Tuesday, January 22 and today the first clip from the film has come online featuring Amanda Seyfried as the titular star, Linda Lovelace, star of 1972’s Deep Throat.
The film tells the story behind the phenomenon. Fleeing her strict religious family, Linda Boreman falls for charismatic hustler Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard), who launches her pornography career. Reborn as “Linda Lovelace,” the charming girl next door skyrockets to international sensation with her uncanny capacity for fellatio. Fully inhabiting this new identity, Linda becomes a spokesperson for sexual freedom and hedonism. But six years later, she reveals a far more sinister narrative—the dark secrets of her own life story.
Sharon Stone, Adam Brody, Chloë Sevigny, Juno Temple, Sarah Jessica Parker, Chris Noth, Robert Patrick and James Franco all co-star along with Wes Bentley, whom you’ll see in the following clip as Larry Marchiano, who would eventually marry Boreman in 1974.
Check out the clip below.
Lovelace is still looking for distribution, but it has already been rated R by the MPAA for strong sexual content, nudity, language, drug use and some domestic violence.
