Why Wasn’t ‘The Road’ at the Festivals? It isn’t Done Yet

Nick Cave, along with Warren Ellis, delivered what I believed to be one of the The Road based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Cormac McCarthy won’t bowl me over again.

In an interview with Margaret Wappler for the Los Angeles Times, Cave reveals he is still working on the score as new cuts of the film are still being submitted. As a matter of fact the interview was held while Cave was on a break from recording music for The Road at a London studio.

We’re working on The Road, and a new edit gets sent every three days or so and your way of seeing can completely change from it, from just leaving a lingering look for three seconds longer or something like that. It’s very much the same thing with lyrics and music in general.

Everything associated with this film from the cast, the director, the source material and the score all seem to be adding up to a film I want to call Best Picture for 2008, but it seems we are going to have to wait even longer. I am beginning to wonder just when we will finally see a trailer considering the film hits theaters on November 14.
