Screenwriter Michael Green Set to Pen Third Wolverine Movie

TheWrap reports that “Heroes,” Green Lantern, and the upcoming Blade Runner Sequel scribe Michael Green is set to write the script for 20th Century Fox’s upcoming third Wolverine movie. A previous draft was written by David James Kelly.

Hugh Jackman recently confirmed that the film will be his last turn as Logan in the “X-Men” feature franchise, but there’s no word yet if he will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse, currently set for a release May 26, 2016, or Deadpool, which will debut February 12, 2016. To date, he has appeared as the character in every “X-Men” film to date, going from being the focus of 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine to just a cameo in 2011’s X-Men: First Class. His career as the character has lasted seven films over the course of 14 years.

Official plot details for the film has yet to be disclosed, but according to Patrick Stewart it could see Logan and Professor Xavier teaming up. The previous two “Wolverine” films have drawn inspiration from two of the character’s most famous comic book storylines, though with well over 300 issues devoted solely to Weapon X, it won’t be hard for Green to find inspiration.

Currently without an official title, Wolverine 3 is set for a release on March 3, 2017 with The Wolverine and 3:10 to Yuma‘s James Mangold directing once again.
