The project titled 1001 Nights is being described as a fantasy movie with sci-fi-infused elements. A Private War scribe Arash Amel has been tapped to pen the movie. He will also be serving as an executive producer. This marks Amel’s latest collaboration with Disney after writing the recently release Disney+ sports movie Rise.

Further details about its plot are still being kept under wraps, but it’s expected to be a standalone IP and will not have a connection to any existing Disney franchises. One of the famous stories coming from the Arabian Nights collection is Aladdin’s Wonderful Lamp, which is the story that inspired Disney’s Aladdin franchise.

Amel is a Welsh-Iranian writer and producer. In addition to 1001 Nights, he is also working on other projects like; Amazon Studios’ musical drama Fred & Ginger; the action comedy Snafu starring John Cena and Jackie Chan; and the Guy Ritchie-directed The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
