Halloween Returns: Myers Stalks Haddonfield Again

Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, the writing pair behind Saw IV-VII, the Feast films and The Collector and Collection are currently at work on a new iteration of Halloween, or “recalibration,” to follow up the Rob Zombie films. Announced in February, the first word on what’s apparently titled Halloween Returns is coming in.

On Saturday, Moviehole reported Halloween Returns will trail a new generation of Haddonfield teens caught in the grip of Michael Myers. In the film, Myers is apprehended and facing execution.

Update: Bloody D is now reporting co-writer Marcus Dunstan will direct Halloween Returns. Dunstan previously helmed both The Collector and The Collection, the latter a stylish, colorful piece of horror.

Moviehole’s synopsis:

The now 18-year-old child of one of Myers’ victims plays a central role along with the child of a cop whose long been obsessed with Myers’ case, even putting it before his own daughter.

Myers is now on death row and the two kids with their own personal vendettas against the killer sneak in to watch his execution. But when things go awry and Myers escapes, the pair, along with their friends, find themselves in the firing line.

The film, with a parental cop and Haddonfield setting seems to be placing a new slasher in classical Halloween fashions. Casting is reportedly underway on the film. Shock has reached out for comment in light of the story making rounds. As we wait for confirmation, find a curious Twitter exchange between Melton and a fan, below.
