Plot Summary: Our picture is a cosmic epic, a hymn to life.

We trace the evolution of an eleven-year-old boy in the Midwest, Jack, one of three brothers. At first all seems marvelous to the child. He sees as his mother does, with the eyes of his soul. She represents the way of love and mercy, where the father tries to teach his son the world's way, of putting oneself first. Each parent contends for his allegiance, and Jack must reconcile their claims. The picture darkens as he has his first glimpses of sickness, suffering and death. The world, once a thing of glory, becomes a labyrinth.

Framing this story is that of adult Jack, a lost soul in a modern world, seeking to discover amid the changing scenes of time that which does not change: the eternal scheme of which we are a part. When he sees all that has gone into our world's preparation, each thing appears a miracle — precious, incomparable. Jack, with his new understanding, is able to forgive his father and take his first steps on the path of life.

The story ends in hope, acknowledging the beauty and joy in all things, in the everyday and above all in the family -- our first school -- the only place that most of us learn the truth about the world and ourselves, or discover life's single most important lesson, of unselfish love.

Hey i'm in this movie as an extra, while they were filming on matagorda beach well the movie takes place in a mystical world of folklore, lots of folks embrace in a race to find the Tree of Life, the tree is said to give you immortality, fertility, and other supernatural powers, talk about becoming superman. Should be a great movie since I'm in it.

You should really go back and read the epic of Gilgamesh.. it has nothing to do with what you are talking about.
Enkidu is not sick and that is why Gilgamesh goes on his quest. Enkidu is punished by the gods and dies and gilgamesh seeing this fears that his faith will be the same to die and decay and be forgotten so this is why he seeks out the source of immotality.... wanna know more, read the book... have no idea what this movie is about but im sure what ever its about it will be a good movie considering the cast and crew

I've read the synopsis like 20 times and I still don't know what it's about. They really need to have a human write the synopsis, and not some jacked-up, literary, self-righteous, high-minded, supposed prose poet.

Apparently it will have dinosaurs in it though. Cool.

@ Your Uncle

Except the "Epic of Gilgamesh" was an oral story passed down long before anyone started writing the bible; long before jews, and long before hebrews were slaves in Egypt. In fact, it's probably where the story of Noah's Ark originated from, and it changed over time since it was being told orally. Learn your history first before you spout off the bible as a "historical" book. Talking snakes??? for Christ's sake!

Well I was also an extra in a movie at Matagorda Beach . . I got mononuclesis from the "hugging people I do not know" scene and was sick for 1 month. I personally think this movie is a bit on the weird side.
