The Shocking Reason Behind Daniel Garcia’s AEW TV Absence

AEW star Daniel Garcia has been absent from TV since a shocking attack by former AEW World Champion MJF. On the June 26 edition of AEW Dynamite, Daniel Garcia interrupted MJF’s address to the fans. Garcia praised MJF for his contributions to All Elite Wrestling, highlighting his status as the youngest champion to main event arenas and making history.

Surprised by the compliments, MJF proposed a potential match with Garcia at All In. However, their moment was interrupted when Will Ospreay stole the spotlight, announcing his own title defense against Garcia for the AEW International Championship.

The following week, Ospreay defeated Daniel Garcia in a thrilling match for the AEW International Championship. Furthermore, former AEW World Champion MJF distracted Garcia by offering him his Dynamite Diamond ring, but Garcia refused. Seizing the opportunity, Ospreay hit Garcia with the Hidden Blade, securing the win. After the match, MJF shockingly attacked Garcia, leaving him bloodied.

MJF’s brutal attack on Daniel Garcia was the last time fans saw him on AEW television. While speculation runs rampant about Garcia’s return, recent reports from WrestlePurists’ Ibou suggest that AEW strategically wrote Garcia off TV. This move could protect the promotion if Garcia chooses not to re-sign a new contract.

Daniel Garcia hasn’t signed a new AEW contract

Fans were shocked by WrestlePurists’ Ibou’s report that Daniel Garcia, an AEW homegrown talent, has been written off TV as a protective measure if he doesn’t re-sign. Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio recently confirmed these reports and shed light on the situation.

Meltzer stated, “When they did the angle, he had not signed a new contract. I had asked around, and it wasn’t like people thought he was leaving. But I don’t know. Do you know more??”

Alvarez stated, “What I know is when they did that angle, they were aware that he may not be back. So the angle was done in case he doesn’t come back. If he does come back, they have a storyline feud with MJF. I know he had been thinking about it, or he had told people he had been thinking about what he was going to do, which he should do…I don’t think it’s 100 percent that he’s coming back, I will say that, but I don’t think that he’s re-signed or decided to leave yet. That was one of the reasons why he was taken out in that storyline.”
