WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes was recently called out by his former tag team partner Drew McIntyre. At WWE King & Queen of the Ring, Rhodes is set to defend his title against Logan Paul. However, while Cody Rhodes is busy with his feud with Logan Paul, WWE RAW star Drew McIntyre has now decided to call him out.
Fans have praised Drew McIntyre for his recent work. He is currently feuding with Damian Priest and the injured CM Punk. Despite Punk’s injury, their rivalry continues. Meanwhile, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest has accepted McIntyre’s challenge for the title. Although the match hasn’t been announced yet, speculation suggests it will take place at Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland.
Ahead of WWE King & Queen of the Ring, Cody Rhodes appeared on Busted Open Radio and discussed the possibility of a match against Drew McIntyre. In response, McIntyre tweeted on X (formerly Twitter), telling Rhodes to prepare himself for their potential clash.
While the former tag team champions are currently on different brands, Cody’s desire for a match with his former tag team partner raises curiosity about whether this will lead to a match.
Drew McIntyre has scored a huge win over Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE in 2022 at WrestleMania 38. Following his return, Rhodes secured three major wins against Seth Rollins. Despite being undefeated upon his return to WWE, Rhodes experienced his first loss at WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns.
Following his loss against Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes once again secured major wins against Brock Lesnar, Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Shinsuke Nakamura. While Rhodes was defeating these top stars, he had yet to face Drew McIntyre. However, the match between these two finally took place earlier this year on WWE RAW. Due to Solo Sikoa’s interference, McIntyre capitalized on the distraction and secured a win over Rhodes.
After Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre is the only star who has defeated Cody Rhodes in a singles match since Rhodes’s return to WWE.
