Sting Retirement Match: What Is WWE’s Stance on It?

WWE Hall of Famer Sting, currently competing in AEW, is set to retire at the upcoming “AEW Revolution 2024” pay-per-view. This has led to speculation about whether WWE talent would be allowed to attend his farewell match.

Scheduled for March 3rd at AEW Revolution 2024, Sting’s final match will see him team up with Darby Allin to defend their AEW Tag Team Championships against the Young Bucks in a tag team tornado match. Amidst speculation about WWE’s involvement, Kevin Nash recently disclosed that he won’t be attending Sting’s retirement match due to WWE restrictions. However, he later clarified his decision.

Sean Ross Sapp, reporting for Fightful, noted that there have been no explicit directives prohibiting WWE talent from attending Sting’s retirement match. Fightful’s statement reads, “Fightful has not been told that wrestlers from other companies, specifically WWE, cannot attend Sting’s retirement match.”

As anticipation builds for Sting’s emotional AEW farewell, the question of WWE talent participation remains open.

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair will be present at Sting’s farewell match

While it’s still unknown which WWE legends will attend Sting’s final match this Sunday, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has been involved in Sting’s retirement storyline from the beginning.

Flair debuted on the October 26 edition of AEW Dynamite, joining All Elite Wrestling as a surprise gift for the Icon, who announced his retirement after Revolution 2024. Following his debut, it was announced that Flair had signed a two-year deal with AEW. With his ‘Wooooo!’ Energy drink becoming the official drink of the promotion.

As part of the buildup to The Icon’s retirement match, Flair has been involved in recent appearances on Dynamite. He initially seemed to side with The Young Bucks. However, Flair ultimately sided with Sting and attacked the Bucks. Despite retaliation from the Bucks, Sting made an iconic entrance from the roof and saved the Nature Boy. This showed Flair’s allegiance to him for the AEW Revolution. This development confirms Flair’s role in supporting the Icon during his farewell match at AEW Revolution.
