Update on Andrade El Idolo’s WWE Return Following AEW Exit

Following his exit from AEW after Worlds End, Andrade El Idolo’s highly anticipated return to WWE is making headlines. At AEW Worlds End, Miro emerged victorious over him after a surprising betrayal by his manager, CJ Perry. AEW President Tony Khan also confirmed Andrade’s departure in a post-show in the media scrum.

Andrade El Idolo, who debuted in AEW in 2021, was initially managed by Jose. He later allied with Vickie Guerrero as his manager. Despite numerous impressive matches, he never secured gold in AEW. At Worlds End marked his final appearance in AEW, as his contract, confirmed by Tony Khan, expired at the end of 2023.

A recent update from Fightful Select’s paywall reveals that Andrade El Idolo is officially done with AEW and has struck a deal with WWE. Initially signed to a two-year deal with AEW, injury time extended his tenure until the year-end. Andrade was reportedly transparent about his contract status, indicating its conclusion in 2023.

Despite initial speculation that he would stay with AEW and might explore other promotions, by the end of 2023, he had informed fellow wrestlers about his return to WWE. While Tony Khan publicly hinted at the possibility of Andrade’s return, he left the door open for him. Only days before AEW Worlds End, Andrade communicated his decision to wrap up his deal.

Interestingly, reports also state that Charlotte Flair advocated for Andrade’s WWE return, while he, in turn, supported Ric Flair’s move to AEW in 2023.
