The Terror Releases Behind-the-Scenes Look at Season 1

Following the release of their haunting Depths teaser, AMC has released a behind-the-scenes look at the first season of their upcoming anthology drama series The Terror. Scroll down to check out the video below!

The ten-part series is inspired by true events and is based on the 2007 Dan Simmons best-selling novel centering on the Royal Navy’s perilous voyage into uncharted territory as the crew attempts to discover the Northwest Passage. The Terror explores this expedition as it illustrates the lengths a group of men will endure in order to survive when they are faced with dwindling resources and limited sanity.

With interviews from a number of cast and crew members including executive producer Ridley Scott and star Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Crown), the featurette illustrates the intrigue behind the expedition and provides a few brief clips of what viewers can expect from the series. As Harris, who portrays Captain Francis Crozier, states at the beginning of the video, “there have been more successful trips to the moon than there have been passages of the Northwest Passage,” which may sound like a compelling tidbit for fans of historical tragedies. The series looks to be like an incredibly intense ride with its cool landscape placing the viewer in the wintery Hell these characters are enduring.

The series also has a stellar ensemble cast consisting of Harris, Tobias Menzies (Rome), Ciarán Hinds (Game of Thrones), Paul Ready (Motherland), Adam Nagaitis (The Commuter), Nive Nielsen (The New World), Ian Hart (Neverland), and Trystan Gravelle (Mr. Selfridge). David Kagjanich and Soo Hugh serve as co-showrunners with Kagjanich penning the adaptation.

The Terror is set to premiere with a special two-hour debut on Monday, March 26th at 9pm/8c on AMC.
