Prime Video unveiled the teaser trailer and release date for Young Sherlock, the upcoming adventure series from Guy Ritchie. Young Sherlock is a reimagining of Sherlock Holmes, played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, and his adventures as an amateur detective.
“Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man — raw and unfiltered — when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty,” the Prime Video synopsis reads. “His first ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy that changes his life forever. Unfolding in 1870s Oxford and adventuring abroad, the series will expose the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to evolve into Baker Street’s most renowned resident.”

What happens in the Young Sherlock teaser trailer?
The action-packed teaser features Sherlock getting into some precarious situations and then using his charm and wit to evade danger. One of the bigger reveals of the teaser is the introduction of James Moriarty, played by Dónal Finn. Moriarty will go on to become one of Sherlock’s adversaries, but in this teaser, the future enemies are friends.
Young Sherlock’s cast includes Zine Tseng as Princess Gulun Shou’an, Joseph Fiennes as Silas Holmes, Natascha McElhone as Cordelia Holmes, Max Irons as Mycroft Holmes, and Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge.
Executive producer Matthew Parkhill is the creator and showrunner of Young Sherlock. Ritchie, an executive producer on the series, directed the first two episodes. Ritchie previously directed two movies featuring the famous sleuth: 2009’s Sherlock Holmes and 2011’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
It’s a reunion for Ritchie and Tiffin, who previously worked together on 2024’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
Additional executive producers include Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Marc Resteghini, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, and Colin Wilson. Harriet Creelman and Steve Thompson are co-executive producers.
All eight episodes of Young Sherlock premiere on March 4, 2026, streaming exclusively on Prime Video.
